ACADEMIC CONTENT | |
Overall objective |
The purpose of elective courses is to give the student opportunitities to specialize within a specific subject area, where the student acquires knowledge, skills and competences in order to translate theories, methods and solutions ideas into their own practice. |
Detailed description of content |
The course provides participants with knowledge and competences within the following domains:
User experience design is much more than ‘icing on the top of the cake’ like adding colors, icons, and buttons to the (almost) finished software design. User experience design is about understanding user needs and requirements in the context of users’ task environment, the technological possibilities, and the emotional impact of using a system, product, or service. Consequently, needs and requirements are discovered, elaborated, and revised during (software) development processes through three types of activities: analyses, design and evaluation. The development of innovative, useful, usable, and pleasing IT applications requires competence in a set of design and evaluation methods, and knowledge of analytical and conceptual models used for analysing and designing user experience when interacting with digital innovation. |
Course material and Reading list |
The course material will be made available via the course Moodle page. |
Overall plan and expected work effort |
Study effort: The course's 5 ECTS correspond to a total of 135 hours workload with: - 40 hours lectures and exercises, - 70 hours of preparation over a 10 week course period, and - 25 hours for the exam and preparation before the course period. |
Format |
|
Evaluation and feedback |
Evaluation form to be filled out (anonymously) plus open discussion on the last course day. Feedback will be continuously collected during the semester together with a final formal evaluation at the end of the course. During the course students will receive oral feedback from peers and teacher of their student presentations and the dialogue-based sessions will also provide guidance to and critical reflection on the students' learning outcome. |
