Aims of the seminar:

  • Information about rules and regulations regarding the master thesis

  • Inspiration and help to start up the master thesis process

  • Input to heads of study for the allocation of supervisors for master thesis

All master students are welcome to participate – even though you are on your 1st or 2nd semester of a master´s programme.

Students who are required to participate are:

If you write a 60 ECTS Thesis, you will start the thesis on your 3rd semester.

The seminar is for these students mandatory on the 2nd and recommended on the 1st semester.

Students that plan an external collaboration, extensive field work or highly preparation demanded labwork should attend the thesis seminar on the 1st semester.

If you write a 30 ECTS Thesis, you will start the thesis on your 4th semester.

The seminar is for these students mandatory on the 3rd and recommended on the 2nd semester.

Students that plan an external collaboration, extensive field work or highly preparation demanded labwork should attend the thesis seminar on the 2nd semester.

E.g..: The seminar is mandatory for students starting their thesis August 2023.

We also recommend that students starting their thesis January 2024 attend, especially if you plan external collaboration, extensive field work or highly preparation demanded labwork.

Programme

13:00 – 14:00: Mandatory common session in room 11.2-047

  • Welcome by Kristine Niss, Chair of Study Board for Natural Science

  • Formalities and possibilities by RUC Administration

  • Experience of writing a master Thesis by an Alumna student

Purpose of the session:

  • Get essential information about rules and regulations

  • Get inspiration, help and tips

  • Gain insight on a student’s master thesis experience

Students should participate in the session if:

  • You are planning to start your Master Thesis in August 2023 (This is also the case if you have decided to carry out an internship simultaneously to your master thesis)

14:00– 14:15: Break with cake and coffee

14:15 – 16:00: Program sessions in different rooms

  • 11.1-047: Chemical Biology by Anders Malmendal, Head of Studies

  • 11.2-047: Molecular Health Science by Lotte Jelsbak, Head of Studies

  • 12.1-067: Physics and Scientific Modelling & Mathematical Bioscience by Kristine Niss and Jesper Schmidt Hansen, Heads of Studies

  • 12.2-079: Environmental Science by Per Meyer Jepsen, Head of Studies

Purpose of the session:

  • Hear more about writing a thesis at your program

  • Hear more about writing a thesis for a company

  • Get help with your supervisor choice

  • Get to know more about your post-thesis possibilities

Students should participate in this session if:

  • You are planning to start your Master Thesis in August 2023 (This is also the case if you have decided to carry out an internship simultaneously to your master thesis)

  • You wish to get inspiration for your Master Thesis, but you are not planning to start your Master Thesis in August 2023
