The theories are juxtaposed with and lead to reflection on central regulatory initiatives in relation to the focus areas of international political economy. The first three sessions of the course cover six different theoretical perspectives including liberalism, neoliberalism, economic nationalism, green IPE, Dependency theory and Global Value Chains. These approaches will then be used to examine and discuss different sets of issues such as global production networks, trade, labour, the environment, the financial crisis, global development and aid.
