| Detailed description of content |
This course investigates the challenges and problems related to the study and design of IT innovations with a focus on the users’ experiences interacting with an IT innovation. Students can have an interest in either an empirical or theoretical approach to a specific system, context of use, user group, or focusing on a more general level on a certain genre (gaming, work systems) or analytical/design related approaches. The course has 4 main topics which in different ways look at how to analyse, design, or evaluate for good user experience when interacting with IT innovations. 1) Analytical Approaches 2) Methodological Approaches 3) What is UX in use domains? 4) Assessment Approaches Each topic focus on known challenges and solutions within a user experience context. Topic 1, 2 and 4 introduces selected understandings and approaches to studying or designing for UX where either our understanding of UX, the ways we can go about designing for UX, or how we evaluate the user experience is in focus. Topic 3 is an introduction to a pallet of use domains or contexts that (might) have an influence on how we understand UX and hence how we work with the different approaches introduced under topic 1, 2, and 4. |
| Expected work effort (ECTS-declaration) |
The course will have a total workload of 135 hours with 40 hours of lectures and exercises, 70 hours of preparation over an 11 weeks course period and 25 hours for the exam and preparation before the course. |

Research articles will be listed at the Moodle site and have to be found via REX. |
| Evaluation- and feedback forms |
A final course evaluation will be administrated at the Moodle site by the study board. Further, an in-class evaluation of the course elements will be done at the last lecture either as a Delphi-evaluation or by using the 'Starfish' approach. During the course students will receive oral feedback from peers and teacher of their student presentations and the dialogue-based sessions will also provide guidance to and critical reflection on the students' learning outcome. |

With the topic of their own choosing, the student has the opportunity to specialise in a specific subject area where the student acquires knowledge, skills and competences in order to translate theories, methods and solutions ideas into their own practice in relation to the design and implementation of IT applications. Subjects can include: IT strategy, IT project management, sourcing of IT projects, IT and enterprise architecture, design and innovation in IT organisations |

Normal class instruction, i.e. a mix of lecturer presentations, student presentations and practical work on specific tasks. Lectures with exercises. |

Individual oral exam based on an assignment.
The exam is conducted as a dialogue. There may be posed questions in any part of the curriculum. The character limit of the written product is maximum 48,000 characters, including spaces. The character limits include the cover, table of contents, bibliography, figures and other illustrations, but exclude any appendices. Time allowed for exam including time used for assessment: 20 minutes. The assessment is an overall assessment of the written product(s) and the subsequent oral examination. Permitted support and preparation materials for the oral exam: All. Assessment: 7-point grading scale. Moderation: Internal co-assessor. |
