Registration is happing through stads selvbetjeningwithin the announced registration period, as you can see on the Studyadministration homepage.

When registering for courses, please be aware of the potential conflicts between courses or exam dates on courses. The planning of course activities at Roskilde University is based on the recommended study programs which do not overlap. However, if you choose optional courses and/or study plans that goes beyond the recommended study programs, an overlap of lectures or exam dates may occur depending on which courses you choose.

Project Process

Guidance on the use of quantitative methods in projects and theses.

The Department of Social Sciences & Business readily puts a team of professors at students’ disposal to assist those who wish to work with quantitative methods in their projects or theses. If you and your group find quantitative analyses relevant to answer your research question, but are in need of support during the process this offer is of relevance to you.

You will be assisted in identifying relevant data sources during a workshop, where we will present an overview of publicly available data sets, which can help you in the process of preparing data, analyses, and interpretation. The workshop is held on February 21, 1:15 pm – 15:00 pm, in theory room 25.3-005.

To sign up, please email carinasb@ruc.dk your project subject and a short description of what you plan to work with, you will then be referred to one of the professors attached to the project. These are Anders Ejrnæs, Camilla Jensen, Carina Bischoff, Johannes Kaberian Dreyer, Jonas Krogh Madsen, Lena Brogaard, Ole Helby, Olivier Rubin, Troels Schultz Larsen, Snorre Sylvester Frid-Nielsen og Thorkil Casse.

Form of examination

The project work is assessed by an oral examination

The oral examination is a group examination. The examination takes the form of a conversation between the students, the examiner and the co-examiner. Students are examined on the basis of the entire project report, in such a way as to allow for individual assessment. As the basis for the examination, each group gives a presentation of 3-5 minutes’ duration on a specific theme relating to the project work.

The length of the project must be between a minimum of 84,000 characters, including spaces, and a maximum of 240,000 characters, including spaces, depending on the number of students in the project group.

The size specifications include the cover, table of contents, bibliography, figures and other illustrations, but exclude any appendices. Assignments that fail to meet the size specifications will be refused assessment, and one examination attempt will be deemed to have been used up.

  • 2-4 students: at least 84,000 and no more than 144,000 characters
  • 5 students: at least 84,000 and no more than 194,000 characters
  • 6-8 students: at least 84,000 and no more than 240,000 characters

If the project report exceeds the above specification of the number of pages it will be refused assessment, which means that the student(s) cannot participate in the examination, and one examination attempt will have been deemed to have been used up. The grade awarded is based on a combined assessment of the project report and the oral examination.

A single overall grade is awarded.

Depending on the number of students, the duration of the examination, including assessment is as follows

  • 2 student 60 minutes
  • 3 student 75 minutes
  • 4 student 90 minutes
  • 5 student 105 minutes
  • 6 student 120 minutes
  • 7 student 135 minutes
  • 8 student 150 minutes
Form of re-examination

Re-examination follows the same rules as the ordinary examination. Student(s) are given an opportunity to revise the project.
